Philadelphia Force News Release

The Philadelphia Force is pleased to announce the signing Jami Lobpries, formally of Texas A&M University. The former Aggie infielder, coming off a trip to the 2008 Women's College World Series finals against Arizona State University, will make her professional debut in 2009.

Tom Kleinman GM/Owner was quoted as follows: "When I was in Oklahoma City for the College World Series, I saw Jami Lobpries play. Due to our roster constraints at the time, I could not sign her for 2008 but I knew I wanted to bring her apart of the Force family in 2009. Presently she looks like a Utility Player, but don't be surprised if she cracks the starting line up. She is that kind of Player."

The 22-year-old native of Wharton, TX, batted .252 (40-for-159), with nine doubles, two home runs, and 30 RBI, while stealing 14 bases in 15 attempts, over 62 games as a senior. Jami recorded a double, a run scored, and an RBI with four hits and two walks in tournament play, earning a spot on the WCWS All-Tournament squad.

The fifth-seeded Texas A&M softball team (57-10) ended its run through the 2008 Women's College World Series with an 11-0 loss to the sixth-seeded Sun Devils (66-5) in the second game of a best-of-three series, June 3rd, at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, OK.

The Aggies 2008 season ended with a school-best 57 wins, earning their second Big 12 regular season title and first-ever Big 12 Championship tournament title en route to their second consecutive Women's College World Series appearance.

A four-year letter-winner at Wharton (TX) High School, Lobpries earned numerous accolades, including: District and County Newcomer of the Year (2001); District Offensive MVP (2003, 2004); Two-time County MVP; area MVP (2004); All-State shortstop (2004); All-State tournament team (2004); and three-time First-Team. She also led her Wharton to the regional semi-finals in 2001 and 2003, while finishing as state runner-up in 2004.
