Foreurs' Anton Zlobin Named CHL Player of the Week

Toronto, ON - The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Pittsburgh Penguins prospect Anton Zlobin of the Val-d'Or Foreurs is the CHL Player of the Week for the week ending December 30 after scoring four goals and five assists for nine points in two games with a plus-minus rating of plus-2.
Zlobin's week was highlighted by a six-point game where he scored a hat-trick including the game-winner and added two assists Sunday as first star of an 8-6 win over the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies. The six-point effort marked the highest offensive game of his career and also tied a Foreurs single game road record set by current Penguins star defenceman Kristopher Letang in 2006. On Friday night Zlobin also contributed a goal and two assists despite a 5-4 loss to the Huskies.
Zlobin, a 19-year-old from Moscow, Russia, is playing in his third QMJHL season and first with the Foreurs after scoring the MasterCard Memorial Cup winning goal with the Shawinigan Cataractes last season. Selected in the sixth round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft by the Penguins, Zlobin has 49 points in 32 games so far this season.
Also considered for the award this week was Brendan Gaunce of the Belleville Bulls who scored two goals with three assists for five points in two games, and Anthony Bardaro of the Prince Albert Raiders who scored four goals and three assists for seven points in two games.
