Greenville Force News Release

GREENVILLE, SC (March 21, 2010) - Led behind four passing touchdown hookups from Andrew Webb to Isaac West, the Greenville Force (1-0) of the Southern Indoor Football League defeated the Lafayette Wildcatters (0-1) 44-28 to open the 2010 season.

Wildcatters quarterback Bo Bartik hit Clarence Cotton for an early long pass setting up a one-yard run by Steven Korte giving Lafayette the early 6-0 lead. The Force didn't wait long to answer back as Force quarterback Andrew Webb hit Isaac West for the first of four hook-ups on the afternoon to tie the game at 6.

Both clubs started out slowly in the first quarter but the scoring began to pick-up with Greenville's Webb finding West for a second time giving the Force a 13-6 lead they would never relinquish. With the Wildcatters offense stalling, Greenville forced a 55-yard field goal attempt by Sean Comiskey that fell short and was eventually returned for a touchdown by Ocatvius Love extending the Force lead to 20-6.

The quarterback-wide receiver tandem of Webb and West proved to be too much for the Wildcatters to overcome as the pair hooked up nine times for 151 yards and four touchdowns. Andrew established early on that he would be the top quarterback in the game as he completed 26-40 passes for 290 yards and four touchdowns.

Both clubs were looking like they were heading for a slugfest as Greenville only led by 7 at the half. But after an early score by the Force and a forced turnover that turned into a field goal, Greenville saw themselves up by 17 mid-way through the 3rd quarter.

The last two touchdowns from Webb to West, one coming at the end of the 3rd and early moments of 4th quarter, gave Greenville a commanding 44-13 lead. Lafayette tried to make things interesting late getting two touchdowns but proved to be too little too late for the Wildcatters.

Lafayette and Greenville will enjoy the next couple of weeks off with the Force returning to action on April 9th against the visiting Louisiana Swashbucklers while the Wildcatters will look to rebound as they travel to take on the Albany Panthers on April 17th.
