
Force Sign Pitcher Stacy Birk

Allentown, PA- The Philadelphia Force have announced the signing of Illinois State University graduate Stacy Birk. The right-handed pitcher won 20 games in 2007 for the Redbirds while posting a 2.21 ERA. The native of Huntington Beach, California was named to the All-Valley First team, the MVC Scholar-Athlete First team, and the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V Second Team after her senior year. On the ISU career pitching record books, Birk is the all-time school leader in wins, saves, appearances, games started, innings pitched, and shutouts.
Birk also excelled at the plate for the Redbirds and served as the designated player when not pitching. During her senior year, she batted .301 and scored 21 runs while driving in 19. She has a career NCAA batting average of .287 while appearing in 182 games for ISU.
She was a three-year starter for Edison High School. In 2003, she pitched in 27 games and recorded 220 strikeouts with an ERA of 0.64. She was elected to the high school's Softball Hall of Fame
