ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Owner and General Manager Thomas Kleinman is pleased to announce the signing of the newest member of the Philadelphia Force, Alex Newton of LaPorte, Texas.

Newton joins the Force after a very successful career at Texas State University. A four year member of the Bobcats, Newton played a huge part in leading her team to the Division I NCAA Regional tournament last month and back-to-back Southland Conference (SLC) titles (2008-2009).

Defensively the standout shortstop totaled 90 putouts and 128 assists in her senior campaign.

The Force (1-4) return to action this Friday when they take on the North East All-Starts in an exhibition game scheduled to begin at 7:05 p.m. EST at ECTB Stadium. Their first home series of the 2009 season will start on June 16th, when they host the Chicago Bandits.
