Philadelphia Force News Release

The Philadelphia Force (13-15) is once again out on the road after a series loss against the Washington Glory. This week, the Force hope to take over fourth place in the NPF standings as they play their season rival New England Riptide (20-12). They play four games against the Riptide from Wednesday July 25 through Saturday July 28 with all games starting at 7:05 p.m. at Martin Softball Field in Lowell, Massachusetts. Game recaps will be available after each game at www.philadelphiaforce.com.

There were some highlights during the past series with the Washington Glory. Kellie Wilkerson was 3-for-11 with three runs batted in. Emily Friedman also contributed to the Force offense going 4-for-13 with two runs batted in. Other notable batters include Sharonda McDonald going 3-for-4 during Friday night's game and Stacie Pestrak batting 3-for-8 throughout the series.

In Force pitching, Jodie Cox made her season pitching debut on July 19 and pitched one scoreless inning against the Glory. In her two relief appearances Cox has amassed five strikeouts but allowing six walks. Margo Pruis (3-4) took a hard loss on Thursday night after letting up a walk-off home run to Amber Jackson yielding only six hits and striking out three.

The Opponents

This past week, the New England Riptide took three out of four games against the visiting China National Team. After the first game loss to China, the Riptide bats came alive. Alex Sutton went 2-for-3 with three runs batted in and Tarrah Beyster was 1-for-3 with two runs batted in during the July 20 game. On Saturday's game, Lisa Iancin blasted a home run over the left field wall and Lyndsey Angus posted a two run double to get the 4-1 win.

The Riptide pitching has been great as Eileen Canney leads two pitching categories in the NPF with 103 strikeouts and a league leading 0.87 earned run average. On Sunday July 22, Canney amassed 12 strikeouts in a 1-0 complete game win against Team China in a makeup game from July 19.
