Philadelphia Force News Release


The Philadelphia Force (24-16) split the second four-game series with the Washington Glory (25-15). The Force is now one game behind the Glory for first place in NPF standings. This week, the Force travel to Rockford (19-19) to play the Thunder for the final time this regular season.

The Force offense continues to be led by Kellie Wilkerson (.415). Wilkerson continues to lead the league in batting average. Emily Friedman had another big weekend for the Force as she led the team to a comeback win over the Glory in the final game of the series. Friedman's two-run walk-off double made the Force winners in the bottom of the seventh inning. Clare Burnum was the hero of the Force's first win. Burnum hit a walk-off solo home run to break the tie going into the seventh inning.

Katie Burkhart (11-4) leads the Force in the circle with her 2.73 ERA. She also leads the NPF in strikeouts (133) and picked up both wins on the weekend.

The Opponent

The Rockford Thunder (15-21) currently sits in last place in the NPF. The Force and the Thunder met earlier this season. The Force won the first three times the teams met, but the Thunder walked away with their first win in the final game. Erin Evans leads Rockford with her .328 batting average and 14 runs scored. Lindsay Gardner follows Evans with a .270 batting average. Gardner also leads the team in hits (27).

On the mound, Allison Kime leads the team with her 7-6 record. In 85.0 innings pitched, Kime has struck out 59 batters and accumulated a 2.72 ERA. Cassidy Scoggins and Megan Brown each have three wins for Rockford.

Exciting Events

On August 13, the Force will play their final series at home against the Akron Racers. Now we will take a look ahead to some of the upcoming August promotions. On August 13 to August 16, the Force will be playing their last regular season series. Throughout this series, the Force will be holding the "Dog Days of Summer" series.

Wednesday, August 13 the Force will be welcoming the Locks of Love, an organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children suffering from long-term medical hair loss. During this evening, players from the Force will be donating their hair to Locks of Love. Fans in attendance are also welcome to donate their hair to the cause. Salons will also be giving away coupons to fans in attendance. Wednesday will be another college night and another opportunity for the first 300 fans in the stadium to receive a free Majestic throwback replica NPF t-shirt. The Player Passion will be Kellie Wilkerson.

Thursday, August 14 will be Dollar Dog Night and the first 300 fans will receive a Majestic NPF t-shirt.

On Friday, August 15, the Force will hold Service Electric Night. John Walson, the founder of Service Electric will be honored as the Local Treasure.

On Saturday August 16 the final "Battle of the Bats" competition will take place prior the game at 6:20 p.m. Saturday will also be ASA night. ASA teams in attendance and state champions will be honored throughout the game. Also, ASA teams will receive a free upgrade to VIP at the general admission price. August 16 will also be the last regular season game for the Force so come out and say farewell to the 2008 regular season and wish them good luck in Kimberly.
