Force Face Off Against New England Riptide

Philadelphia Force News Release


The Philadelphia Force (6-6) finished up the China series on Tuesday night as they get ready for a road trip to face the New England Riptide (9-7). The following week they come back to ECTB Stadium for a home series against the same Riptide. Game recaps will be available after each game at www.philadelphiaforce.com.

The Force is currently on a five-game winning streak sweeping Team China with one win coming at the end of the Akron Racers series. Force shortstop Chelsea Spencer, currently leads the league in batting average with .457 as well as batting in seven runs. Trena Peel has been superb on defense, robbing Team China of three home runs including blasting her first home run of the season. Finally, pitcher Kristina Thorson added a no-hitter on June 24 walking only the first batter then going through the next 21 batters, striking out everyone in the lineup at least once.

Opponents

Team China finished up the series with the Force and they travel to play the Chicago Bandits and then off to Akron to play the Racers. Their month long trip will include series with every National Pro Fastpitch team.

Meanwhile, the Riptide split a four-game series with the Chicago Bandits at New England claiming two wins each. The next series between the Force and Riptide is important because each will battle for the fourth position in the overall standings. The Riptide is getting solid hitting from Garland Cooper (.429) and Shanel Scott (.357). Erica Beach (4-2) has two complete games under her belt plus leads the team in wins.

Force Frenzy

The home series July 4 - July 7 between the Riptide and the Force focuses on "Family, Fun and Fitness" throughout entire series. To celebrate the July 4th holiday, the Force will give away glow sticks and glow bracelets to all fans. On July 5, the Force players share their "Home Plates" by offering healthy recipes and solutions to every day foods. July 6th offers another local treasure and on July 7th is Lehigh Valley Hospital Family Night where any employee that shows a Lehigh Valley Hospital I.D. will receive ticket prices for $5 per person. July 7th also includes fun exercises for the family with a Hoola Hoop Contest, Pogo Sticks and much more.

For the kids, there is entertainment down the left field line with a moonbounce and Fastpitch. Also, get an airbrushed tattoo near the first base side.
