Flying Mummies Rally Late to Defeat Pit Spitters, 3-2

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. - The Richmond Flying Mummies erased an early two-run deficit Saturday night, scoring all three of their runs over the final three innings to defeat the Traverse City Pit Spitters 3-2 at Turtle Creek Stadium. Richmond improves to 10-18 on the season, while Traverse City falls to 18-11.

The Pit Spitters capitalized on two Richmond errors in the second inning to score a pair of unearned runs despite managing just one hit in the frame. Those would be the only runs Traverse City would score all night as the Mummies' pitching staff settled in.

Jaden Alberson allowed just three hits over five innings. Neither of the two runs charged against him was earned. Jack Peine followed with three scoreless innings of relief, striking out three while not allowing a hit, before Jordon Hart closed out the ninth.

Richmond finally broke through in the seventh when Jackson Cliatt walked, stole third, and scored on Maxwell Molessa's RBI triple. The Mummies took the lead an inning later after Drew Phillips reached on a single, Prince DeBoskie advanced into scoring position on an error, and Eli Bennett and Cliatt each drove home runs during a two-run rally.

Weston Mazey and Drew Phillips each collected two hits, while Cliatt finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Molessa's seventh-inning triple proved to be Richmond's biggest hit of the night.

The Flying Mummies continue their road trip Sunday afternoon against the Traverse City Pit Spitters as they look to secure another series victory. First pitch is scheduled for 5:05 PM ET.
