The Orange County Flyers got their first win of the season Monday night at the expense of the still winless St. George Roadrunners....
The Flyers took advantage of the Roadrunners many miscues to notch their first win by a 9-4 margin at Bruce Hurst Field in St. George, Utah.
Robert Salini provided the first quality start of 2007 for Orange County by dealing six innings of two-run ball and striking out three.
He got the added benefit of some bad St. George baserunning. The home team was doubled off on two line drives and one pop-up.
Joseph Muro started for St. George, but he last only 1.2 innings and could not find his control.
The Flyers struck for three runs in the 1st inning highlighted by a Mark Okano two-run double.
Orange County took a 4-2 lead into the 6th inning and then broke it open with a three-run 6th. Buddy Morales drove home two runs in the frame with a single to left.
Mike Natale, who joined the team on the trip to Utah, pitched two scoreless innings of relief. Dave Coggin recorded the last three outs to seal the win.
Gary Harris led the Roadrunners offense with three hits out of the leadoff spot. Geoff Wagner added two booming doubles.
The Flyers will finish up their five game road trip Tuesday night in St. George. The game will be begin at 6:05 pacific time and be broadcast on KWRM 1370 and orangecountyflyers.com .
