One-Day Contracts to be Awarded to Join the Flyers for the 2006 Season - Proceeds to go to YMCA and Professional Baseball Scouts Foundation -

Single Game Seats for 2006 Season Go On Sale the Same Day

FULLERTON, CA: The Fullerton Flyers Professional Baseball team, a charter member of the Golden Baseball League, are pleased to announce that they will be hosting their Inaugural Celebrity/Media Tryout at Goodwin Field on the Campus of Cal State Fullerton on Saturday, April 22, 2006.

Several members of the southern California Media, and a select number of celebrities, have confirmed that they will be attending this charity event. Admission for fans is $10, and seating is limited. 50% of the gate proceeds will go to the North Orange County YMCA, and 50% will go to the Professional Baseball Scouts Foundation (PBSF). To reserve your seats for this unique event, call the Flyers front office at 714-526-TEAM. Cal State Fullerton's food service division will be opening up the concession stands for this event.

"I have always heard that rock stars want to be athletes and athletes want to be rock stars", Flyers GM Ed Hart commented when asked how the idea was formed. "We can't do much to give our athletes the chance to be rock stars, but we can provide the professional baseball dream to rockers, actors, and media. We are also very pleased that we can assist two worthwhile organizations to raise funds. The YMCA is big in all of our communities, and they do wonderful work with the youth of our nation. The PBSF is largely responsible for this great game of baseball, and without these tireless scouts traveling the world to find today's stars, this game would not be what it is - America's Past time!"

Carlos Alazraqui, who plays "Garcia" on the hit Comedy Central show "Reno 911" was one of the first celebrities to sign up. "I am heading out to Foot Locker tonight to get new cleats", the former voice of the Taco Bell Chihuahua stated. "This is exciting. To get the chance to take some swings, and battle for a real professional baseball contract is a dream come true."

Dozens of celebrities and media have been invited, and the Flyers public relations team is pounding the phones daily to line up more attendees. Many major celebrities from Hollywood have received an invitation or a phone call, and a few have told the Flyers, through their agents or publicists, that they are working on clearing their schedule for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

In addition to Alazraqui, also confirmed for the April 22 event are: Krystal Fernandez from Fox GameTime Live and Fox Sports TV 11; Mike Parker from Sports Producer for KABC Channel 7; members of the bands Aquabats and Zebrahead,; Ted Stryker from KROQ 106.7; David Singer, the Executive Producer of "The Big Show with Mason and Ireland" on ESPN Radio 710; Greg Toohey, the Executive Producer of "Fox GameTime Live" on the Fox Sports Radio Network. New attendees will be announced as they confirm, but it is expected that between 30 - 40 media and celebrities will be trying out for the Flyers on the 22nd.

Reporters from all television and newsprint media in southern California have been invited, as have morning talk show hosts Mark (Thompson) and Brian (Phelps) (KLOS 95.5) and Ryan Seacrest (KIIS-FM and American Idol). No word yet from any of these three as to their plans.

"We are shooting for the stars", Hart stated. "No pun intended!"

Player registration begins at 9:30 AM, and the tryout starts at 11.

The Flyers also announced today that single game tickets for the 2006 season will go on sale at 9 AM on April 22, as well. Fans in attendance at the Celebrity/Media Tryout can get first crack at individual game seats by purchasing them at Goodwin Field.
