Florida Wins Fourth In A Row

Florida Seals News Release

[JACKSONVILLE, Fla.] -The same two teams faced off for the second straight night and the Florida Seals grabbed the win again. The Seals skated past the Barracudas 5-2, their fourth straight victory.

The score was not indicative of how close the game really was. The teams traded goals in the middle period before Tommy Stewart's squad took control in the final frame.

After blowing a two goal advantage the Seals Steve Zoryk gave his team back the lead for good with some great hustle. Zoryk skated hard to the boards to keep the puck in the offensive zone. He fed the puck to Craig Miller behind the net before setting up for a return pass in between the hash marks. The goal was Zoryk's team leading twelfth of the season.

Florida (8-5-4) continued to pour it on in the third period jumping on every loose puck and finishing their checks creating scoring chances. Craig Miller added a big insurance goal and Dominick Dawes scored on the empty net to seal the Florida victory.

The scoring started in the second period as Justin Keller remained hot. His second period shorthanded goal gave him points in seven straight games. Another hot Seal, David Deeves, extended the lead to two with his sixth goal in the past four games.

The Barracudas (6-10-1) fought back with two goals of their own late in the middle frame. Taras Foremsky scored the first en route to a two point night. Jacksonville scored a short handed goal of their own as Geoff Rollins lit the lamp after receiving a great pass from Foremsky.

The win coupled with a Pee Dee loss gives the Seals sole possession of third place in the Southern Professional Hockey League. The victory was the Seals third in a row on home ice.

The Seals continue the four game home stand next weekend. Friday night the Seals will host the Columbus Cottonmouths. Saturday night the Seals will play host to the Knoxville Ice Bears. On Dec. 10 the Seals will welcome in the first four members of the Seals Hall of Fame. Join the festivities as Chris LiPuma, Ryan Anderson, David Goverde and Zac Boyer are enshrined.
