Portland, ME - The Florida Panthers, new NHL affiliate of the Portland Pirates, today announced the acquisition of forward Greg McKegg from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for forward prospect Zach Hyman and a Conditional Seventh Round draft choice in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.
McKegg, a 6-foot-1, 191 pound center from St. Thomas, Ontario, will enter his fourth full season of professional hockey in 2015-16. He spent the majority of the 2014-15 season with the Maple Leafs' AHL affiliate, the Toronto Marlies, where he played in 62 games and scored 22 goals and 15 assists for 37 points. He also collected 39 penalty minutes during the AHL season. During the 2015 Calder Cup Playoffs, McKegg scored two goals and picked up 12 PIM in five games in the Marlies' first round defeat at the hands of the Grand Rapids Griffins.
Selected in the Third Round (62nd Overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft by Toronto, McKegg also played three NHL games for the Maple Leafs last season. He made his NHL debut in 2013-14, playing in one game.

Before he turned pro, McKegg played four seasons in the OHL, three-and-a-half with the Erie Otters and half a season with the London Knights.
Hyman, a 6-foot-1, 205 pound forward from Toronto, Ontario, was a Fifth Round (123rd Overall) selection of the Panthers in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, but has not signed an Entry Level Contract. Last season, the 23 year-old led the Big Ten Conference with 22 goals and 32 assists for 54 points in 37 games in his senior season with the University of Michigan Wolverines.
