Florida Seals News Release

[KISSIMMEE, Fla.]-Fans certainly get their money's worth when they watch the Florida Seals. The Seals grabbed a point in their eighth straight home game beating Columbus 4-3 in a shootout.

Craig Miller was the latest hero for the Seals scoring in the fifth and final round of the shootout. It was the first time this season Miller was used in the shootout. Terry Denike stood tall stopping four of five Columbus shooters earning his 22nd victory of the year.

The Seals have gone to overtime or a shootout in seven of their last 10 games, including shootouts tonight and last night. The game's final period, overtime and shootout were vastly different than a slow 40 minutes to start the game.

Heading into the final frame the Seals were down 2-1 as Ryan Rutz and Lorne Misita scored for the Cottonmouths and Ryan Rivard scored the lone Seals goal.

Thirteen times this year the Seals trailed after two periods of play and 13 times they failed to win or even force overtime. Justin Keller tied the game up with his 22nd goal of the year at the 1:35 mark. Things went back to the methodical pace of the first two periods for the next 12 minutes.

Tom McMonagle looked to give the Snakes a win with his 26th goal of the season at the 13:02 mark. Just over two minutes later Miller brought the 2,950 fans to life as he tied the game eventually forcing the extra session.

Florida embarks on their final road trip of the regular season next week. Thursday the Seals travel to Jacksonville, Friday to Pee Dee and Saturday to Huntsville. Check the Seals website for games times and broadcast channels. The Seals will return to home ice Tuesday, Mar. 14 when the Fayetteville FireAntz crawl into the Silver Spurs Arena.
