TODAY'S GAMES: Games one and two of a three-game series against the Jupiter Hammerheads at Osceola County Stadium...Games one and two of a seven-game homestand against Jupiter and the Bradenton Marauders leading into the All-Star break...First of four series (11 games) between the two clubs in 2018, six at Osceola County Stadium 7-10 against the Miami Marlins' affiliate, including 2-4 at home...Florida finished 4-4 against Bradenton in 2017, including 1-3 on the road...The Fire Frogs are coming off a 3-5 road trip against the Clearwater Threshers and Bradenton Marauders.
TODAY'S STARTING PITCHERS: 20-year-old Kyle Muller makes his sixth start at the High-A level in game one of the three-game series against the Jupiter Hammerheads...The southpaw made six starts with the Rome Braves, going 3-0 with a 2.40 ERA across 30 innings of work (8er)...The Dallas native did not factor into the decision of a 7-6, extra-inning loss to the Clearwater Threshers on June 3 at Spectrum Field...The southpaw allowed two runs on five hits, two walks and six strikeouts across 5.2 innings of work on 101 pitches (66 strikes)...The two runs allowed were inherited runners...Friday will be Muller's first career start against the Hammerheads.
22-year-old Jeremy Walker makes his 12th start of 2018 in game two of the doubleheader against the Jupiter Hammerheads on Saturday...The 6'5" hurler suffered his fifth loss of the season on June 4 against the Bradenton Marauders at LECOM Park...The right-hander allowed two runs on five hits, three walks and four strikeouts in three innings on 72 pitches (44 strikes)...Sunday will be Walker's first career start against the Hammerheads.
CUMBERLAND'S BAT BACKS ANDERSON'S ARM IN SERIES SPLIT: Brett Cumberland broke a 2-2 tie in the top of the sixth with a two-run shot over the wall in right to help propel the Florida Fire Frogs over the Bradenton Marauders, 4-3, on Thursday night. The Fire Frogs took the final two games of the four-game series at LECOM Park to earn the split against the Pittsburgh Pirates' affiliate.
Florida fell behind early after a two-run homer from Lucas Tancas in the second, but responded with two runs of its own in the top of the third. Anderson kept Bradenton off the board through his final five innings of work to lock down his first win of the season with seven quality innings.
Dan Lietz earned the save in his team debut, allowing a run on two hits and a strikeout across the final two frames.
CUMBY'S CRUSH: Cumeberland's go-ahead blast in the sixth was his first home run since April 16 against the Lakeland Flying Tigers at Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium, covering the span of 29 games...The product of Cal also drove home a season-high, three RBI on the night.
FEELS SO GOOD: Ian Anderson's seven quality innings on Thursday night helped the 20-year-old earn his first win since June 17, 2017 (17 starts)...The right-hander was coming off a start against the Clearwater Threshers that lasted two innings, before tying a career-high with seven frames on Thursday night.
CLEAN DEFENSE: The Fire Frogs did not commit any errors over the course of the last four nights at LECOM Park...The four-game stretch was the first series this season Florida did not commit any defensive miscues (17 total series)...The defense had made five mistakes in the previous four contests against the Clearwater Threshers, with four happening on on Friday, June 1.
ALL-STAR SELECTIONS: The Florida State League announced its rosters for the North and South squads on June 1, and three Fire Frogs will represent the Atlanta Braves' High-A affiliate in Tampa on on June 16...Chad Sobotka, Cristian Pache and were selected divisional coaches, GMs, official scorers and broadcasters...Sobotka has since been replaced by right-handed pitcher Sixto Sanchez of the Clearwater Threshers.
