August 22, 2002 - NBA G League (G League)
Huntsville Flight News Release

HUNTSVILLE, Ala., August 21, 2002 – Huntsville Flight Mascot Cosmo will join students and faculty from Mountain Gap Elementary School at Bruno's Supermarket (9020 Bailey Cove Rd., corner of Bailey Cove and Weatherly) on Monday, Aug. 26 from 5-8 p.m. to collect box tops as part of General Mills Box Tops 4 Education program.

Each box top from participating General Mills products that is collected during the event by Mountain Gap Elementary School is worth $0.10 towards their school's fund. In addition, Bruno's will double the donation to the school fund on box tops collected during the event. Last week, General Mills announced that enrolled schools can now earn up to $60,000 each year from the Box Tops for Education program, including $20,000 from each of the three program components (Clip, Shop and Charge). According to General Mills, more than 60 percent of the nation's K-8 schools are enrolled in the General Mills Box Tops for Education program and more than 22 million American households clip Box Tops for Education. Since the program's inception in 1996, General Mills has given nearly $70 million to America's schools and anticipates giving even more this year with the newly expanded program.

The fundraiser with Mountain Gap Elementary School is just one of a number of educational programs and events the Flight and the NBDL are involved in each year. The cornerstone of the Flight's education emphasis is Read to Achieve, a year-round program to help young people develop a life-long love for reading and encourage adults to read regularly to children.
