HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Dec. 12 - The Huntsville Flight defeated the visiting Asheville Altitude 105-92 in NBDL play tonight at the Von Braun Center.

Cheyne Gadson came off the bench to pace five Flight players in double figures as he scored 15 points on 7-for-9 shooting. Rodney Bias came off the bench to lead the Flight with 11 rebounds while also posting five blocks in 22 minutes of play. The Flight bench scored 51 of the team's 105 points.

"[The Flight has] the best bench it's had in three years," said Asheville head coach Joey Meyer. "They played a good game and got us when we were down with a lot of hurt players."

Desmond Penigar led all players with 35 points and 15 rebounds while dishing five assists, nabbing four steals and posting one block. Kareem Reid tossed in 16 points, nine assists and five rebounds. Gary Williams chipped in 10 points.

"It's good to see our team executing plays and getting back on defense," said Flight head coach Ralph Lewis. "Tonight was a big psychological win for us because we see this team again tomorrow on the road. This helps keep us focused and excited to play."

The Altitude (2-5) jumped out to an early 8-2 lead in the first quarter, hitting four of their first six field goals. The Flight (5-1) responded outscoring Asheville 18 to 4 to take the lead and end the quarter. Asheville battled back to tie the game 31-31 at the 4:44 mark of the second quarter. The Flight then distanced itself, pulling away by 15 points by the end of the quarter.

The Flight travel to Asheville to take on the Altitude Saturday, December 13 at 6:15pm.

Noteworthy Stats:

The Flight posted 16 blocks in tonight's contest, posting a Flight team record.

Desmond Penigar's 35 points is a Flight 2003-04 single game opponent record

Ken Johnson tied the Flight 2003-04 single game record, posting seven blocks. This is the second time in as many games that he posted seven blocks, the first coming on December 6 against Fayetteville.

Erick Barkley tied a Flight 2003-04 single game record with eight assists.

This is the second time this season the Flight shot better than 50 percent from the field (46-85: 54.1%).

This is the fourth time the Flight has scored 100 points or more in a game this season. The Flight did not score 100 points in four games in either of the previous two seasons.

The current 5-1 record is the best start for the Flight in team history.
