BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - After being disqualified Thursday from the Premier Basketball League's playoffs and suspended from the league through the 2015 season, the Bloomington Flex had nothing to play for against the Chicago Fury of the American Basketball Association Friday night but pride.

That was enough.

The Flex, flat after an emotional couple of days, overcame a slow start and early seven-point deficit to beat the Fury 123-104 in front of 1,843 fans at U.S. Cellular Coliseum on a night billed as "Community Appreciation Night."

The Fury agreed to play the game less than twelve hours before tipoff, after the night's original opponent, the Chicago Steam of the ABA, withdrew at the request of ABA head Joe Newman because the team was participating in the ABA championship series next week in Shreveport, La.

Five Flex players scored in double figures, led by Nate Fuqua's 18. Fuqua also had 10 rebounds to lead the team. Chris Singletary scored 17, Gary Redus had 16, Latrell Alford netted 15, and former Illinois State standout Anthony Slack, who played for the Central Illinois Drive in 2012, scored 14 and grabbed 7 rebounds in his second game back with the team. Every member of the Flex played and scored at least two points.

The Flex shot 54% from the field as a team, while holding the Fury to 42%. Jerwin Callaway led all scorers with 19 points. Rob Broughton had 11 rebounds for Chicago.

"We're going to step back and take a breath now," said Flex owner and team president Scott Henderson. "We're going to look at all our options, but I can say that it is our firm intent to be back next year, playing at U.S. Cellular Coliseum. These fans deserve it, especially with the overwhelming support this week, and incredible turnout tonight," Henderson said.

The Flex finish the 2014 season with an 18-0 regular-season record.
