BLOOMINGTON - The Bloomington Flex used a hot-shooting first half and a stout defense to take a 1-0 lead over the visiting Rochester RazorSharks in the best-of-three Premier Basketball League Finals, defeating the 'Sharks 106-86.

Jemal Farmer led the Flex with 24 points, scoring 22 in the first half on 9-of-11 shooting, including 3-of-4 from three-point range. Ryan Anderson added 16, and Pekin High School graduate Todd Peterson, playing in his final professional home game, scored 16 points on 4-of-7 shooting from three-point range.

The Flex defense held Rochester to 14 points below its previous season low. The Flex outrebounded the RazorSharks 43-28, led by Terrence Green's eight boards. Green also contributed ten points on the strength of three ferocious dunks.

DePaul graduate Mac Koshwal and Keith Friel paced Rochester with 15 apiece.

The Flex opened up the game with a 30-18 first quarter lead, and pushed that to 65-42 at halftime. But Rochester roared back in the third, drawing to within seven. But a key timeout by Flex coach stopped the bleeding, and enabled the Flex to end the third quarter on a little run, extending the lead back to twelve.

The fourth quarter was all Flex. Bloomington pushed the lead to 24 midway through the period, before the final margin was narrowed to 20.

The Flex and RazorSharks head to Rochester for Sunday's Game 2 at Blue Cross Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 2:05 p.m. Eastern Time. The game will be aired on WJBC.com with the pregame show starting at 1:40 p.m. Eastern.

Game 3, if necessary, will also be in Rochester, on Monday at 7:05 p.m.
