SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The WNY Flash defeated Vermont 3-0 and host Syracuse 1-0 today to round out their preseason fixtures. The Flash finish preseason without conceding a goal.
Forward Lynn Williams scored the lone goal in the 37th minute to put the WNY Flash ahead of Syracuse. Catherine Zimmerman opened scoring against Vermont early in the 13th minute with Makenzy Doniak dribbling through the defense to double the lead just three minutes later. Jessica McDonald added to the tally off an assist by Adriana Leon in the 24th minute and a final goal in the last minute by Halimatu Ayinde to finish off the day.
The Western New York Flash will open the 2016 season on Saturday, April 16 at reigning champion, FC Kansas City. The Flash will begin its home campaign on Friday, April 29 against the Washington Spirit at Sahlen's Stadium.
