ELMA, N.Y. (Monday, November 10, 2014) - The Western New York Flash announced today the club has signed former U.S. Women's National Team defender India Trotter. Per team and league policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.

"India is exactly the type of player we want on our roster," said Flash general manager and head coach Aaran Lines. "She's a versatile player who can excel at two or three different positions and we're excited to bring her experience on board. She hasn't played at the professional level recently, but she's very eager to prove herself this season. We want those types of hungry, driven players in Western New York."

Trotter, 29, was a member of the U.S. Women's National Team player pool from 2006-09 and made her first appearance with the full side during the 2006 Four Nation's Tournament. In 2008, she helped lead the U.S. Under-23 Women's National Team to the Nordic Cup Championship, scoring the game-winning goal against Germany. That same year, the defender was selected as an alternate for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing after being named an alternate for the 2007 FIFA Women's World Cup.

Trotter started her professional career in 2008 with the Pali Blues of the W-League and later had a stint with German side 1. FFC Frankfurt. A native of Plantation, Florida, Trotter was selected by the St. Louis Athletica in the 2008 WPS Draft. After debuting with the team in 2010, she was traded to Sky Blue FC that same season. The following year, Trotter signed with the Atlanta Beat and went abroad to play for Dalsjöfors GoIF of Sweden.

At Florida State University, Trotter was a standout player all four years. After being named a Freshman All-American by Soccer America and Soccer Buzz in 2003, she went on to earn First Team All-ACC accolades in her next three seasons. Trotter finished her career with the Seminoles with 24 goals, 18 assists and 66 points. Her 97 career appearances currently ranks third all-time in Florida State history, while her goal total is tied for 10th overall.
