
Flash Sign 4 Additional Players

Rochester, NY (March 15, 2013) - The Western New York Flash of the National Women's Soccer League has announced the signings of four players for the 2013 season. Adrianna Franch, Angela Salem, Kim Yokers and Estelle Johnson will join the WNY Flash.
Adrianna Franch, a Salina, Kansas native attended Oklahoma State University where she played as a goalkeeper. Franch started 20 games in goal and recorded 12 shutouts in over 1,800 minutes of action. Subsequent to getting called to the U.S. Women's National Team training camp in May 2012, the goalkeeper played on U.S. U-23 National Team that won Three Nations Tournament in Norway in June 2012. Franch made the NSCAA All-America First Team and the Soccer America MVPs First Team in 2011.
Angela Salem, a midfielder from Coplay, Ohio, returns to the Flash as their second pick,15th overall in the NWSL Supplemental Draft after appearing in all 16 matches for the club and starting 15 during the 2012 season. Prior to the 2012 WPSL Elite season, Salem started nine games, appearing in 11 for the Atlanta Beat in the WPS. The technical center midfielder has also played for the Sky Blue FC of the WPS and is a graduate of Francis Marion University where she became the first female alum to play professional soccer. Salem was a large part of the Flash's third consecutive championship scoring the game winning penalty kick after double overtime against the Chicago Red Stars.
Kim Yokers is from Seattle Washington and played as a midfielder for the University of California. Yokers made 20 starts as a sophomore, earning three goals six assists. As a Golden Bear she was selected to the All-Pac-10 first team and NCSAA second team in her junior year. The Seattle native appeared in 9 matches for FC Gold Pride in 2009 and 2010, helping the club to the 2010 WPS Championship. In 2012, she played with New York Fury of the WPSL Elite. In the third round, the Flash selected the midfielder as the 23rd pick overall.
Estelle Johnson (7th overall in the Supplemental Draft), a solid defender who played the 2012 season with the NY Fury in the WPSL Elite League. Johnson was a key component to Paul Riley's side that faced the Flash in the semi-final match where the Flash defeated the Fury 2-1. Johnson appeared in 15 games for the Philadelphia Independence during the 2011 WPS season, including the WPS Championship match where the Independence fell to the Flash. The Colorado native was selected in the 2nd round of the 2010 LA Sol Dispersal Draft by the Independence, and appeared in 13 games her rookie season.
