Western New York Flash News Release
ELMA, N.Y. (Friday, August 7, 2015) - The Western New York Flash will look to ride the momentum of last week's road win, as the team searches for another important three points Saturday night at FC Kansas City.
Saturday's match will be streamed live on YouTube and can be watched by clicking the link here. Fans can also follow live play-by-play at the Flash's official Twitter page, @WNYFlash, and can join the conversation by using the hashtag #FCKCvWNYF.
The Flash (5-7-3, 18 points) sit just one point behind the Blues (5-6-4, 19 points) who are in sixth place in the table. Both teams are looking to make their way into playoff position as the 2015 NWSL season is winding down.
The Flash is coming off a big 2-1 win at Sky Blue FC last Saturday, with Elizabeth Eddy scoring in the 89th minute to lift the Flash to victory. Eddy, who entered the game just 10 minutes earlier, headed home a Lynn Williams cross for her third goal of the year. Lady Andrade scored the Flash's opening goal, her first of the season, capitalizing on a misplayed ball from Sky Blue goalkeeper Brittany Cameron. Chantel Jones earned her third win of the year, making six saves in the match.
Kansas City earned a hard fought draw against second place Chicago Red Stars last week, playing to a 2-2 final. After the Red Stars went up 1-0 on a Christen Press goal, Amy LePeilbet scored to level the match. Press scored again, but Sarah Hagen had the answer in the 87th minute to make sure both teams walked away with a point.
The Flash and Blues have played twice this season, with Saturday's meeting the final of the year. Kansas City won the first match 1-0 in Rochester on May 8 and then the team's played to a 0-0 draw at Swope Soccer Village just a week later.
Following Saturday's match, the Flash continue on the road for another two games, next traveling to Washington on Wednesday to face the Washington Spirit at 7 p.m.
Western New York is back at Sahlen's Stadium on August 29 against the Chicago Red Stars. The game will be the team's annual Pink game, with limited-edition pink jerseys worn and raffled off after the game as well as player-designed and local business donated basket raffles. All proceeds of the raffles will be donated to Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
Tickets for the Flash's remaining two home matches are available at wnyflash.com or by phone at (716) 655-PLAY or (585) 454-KICK. Group ticket discounts are available for parties of 10 or more.
