Western New York Flash News Release

ELMA, N.Y. (Monday, November 9, 2015) - The Western New York Flash has acquired defender Rebecca Moros from FC Kansas City, in a deal that sends the rights to defender Brittany Taylor to the defending league champions. In a separate deal, the Flash also received an international roster spot for the 2016 and 2017 seasons from Kansas City in exchange for forward Amanda Frisbie.

A native of Manhattan, Moros joins the Flash for the second time in her career. Before winning the 2015 NWSL Championship with FC Kansas City, Moros also helped lead the Flash to the 2011 WPS Championship.

"Becca is an experienced outside back who played for us in 2011. She came in, halfway through that season, and really helped solidify our right side," said Flash Head Coach Aaran Lines. "I think she will contribute to a leadership position both on and off the field next year and help fill a need at outside back. Abby Dahlkemper did a good job for us filling in last year, but this move allows her to slide back into her natural role and strengthen our back line."

Moros, 30, is coming off her first NWSL Championship after helping FCKC to its second-straight title in September. The defender started all 20 regular-season matches, missing just 70 total minutes in the year, and was on the field for all 180 minutes of the postseason.

In 2015, Moros helped guide the Kansas City backline to a league-leading nine regular-season shutouts and carried that over to the playoffs, not allowing a goal to Chicago or Seattle in the two matches.

The defender joined the NWSL in 2014 as a member of Portland Thorns FC, where she appeared in 18 matches (13 starts) for 1,171 minutes. She was traded to the Blues during the 2014-15 offseason.

Moros graduated from Duke University where she was a three-time NSCAA All-American.

Taylor, 28, was signed by the Flash as a free agent in 2013 and appeared in all but three matches over her tenure. The defender posted 15 points (5 goals, 5 assists) in her three years and, in 2015, was selected as the team's captain.

"Brittany was a tremendous servant for us for three years, in particular, in 2013 when she helped the club get to the regular-season title and championship game. What she contributed that season was excellent," Lines added. "We wish her nothing but the best of luck for her future."

Frisbie, 23, was acquired by the Flash last season as part of a trade with Seattle Reign FC. In her rookie NWSL campaign, Frisbie appeared in four matches and scored a goal against her former club on July 11.

"We have a plan for this international spot and are excited to get someone who will help the organization," said Lines. "Due to a couple injuries last season, Amanda unfortunately had a shortened year for us but we wish her the good luck in Kansas City."
