Port Huron Flags News Release

(PORT HURON, MICH.) - The Flags fought well, but were unable to hold off the Muskegon Fury in the third period, falling 5-3, in front of 1,511 fans.

The first period passed quickly with only four penalties total. At 4:22, Muskegon's Elias Godoy scored the first goal of the night, assisted by Chase Trull. Muskegon shot five times on Noah Ruden, while Port Huron recorded 8 shots against Ryan Syr.

The Flags stole the show in the second period, recording two shorthanded goals on the same Muskegon power play. Ryan Markham netted his fourth goal of the season at 2:31, unassisted and Captain Greg Bullock lit up the scoreboard at 3:24, off an assist from Mark Cadotte. Ten minutes later, Markham scored again, this time assisted by B.J. Adams and Cadotte. An interference call on Shayne Tomlinson led to a Fury goal at the 15 minute mark, scored by Todd Robinson and assisted by Mike Watt and Philippe Plante. Billy Collins and Pat Sutton dropped their gloves shortly after the goal, and fired up the crowd, before heading to their respective locker rooms to wait out their five minute fighting penalties. Muskegon had 13 shots on goal to Port Huron's 11.

The Fury tied it up at 4:45 in the third, when Godoy assisted Scott Barnes to beat Ruden at the net. Then, while the Fury were shorthanded, Robinson recorded his second goal of the night at 10:43, unassisted, to put Muskegon on top. An empty-net goal by Robinson at 19:33 sealed the deal for the Fury.

AT&T's First, Second and Third Stars of the Game were Robinson, Markham and Cadotte, respectively. The Flags play at home against the Flint Generals on Friday, Nov. 17, at 7:30 p.m.
