North Iowa Outlaws News Release
Mason City (IA) The North American Hockey League has announced that five members of the North Iowa Outlaws will participate in next month's Top Prospects Tournament at the Ice Cube in Ann Arbor, MI as members of the Central Division team. In its second year in existence, the Top Prospects Tournament is the NAHL's version of an All-Star Showcase and matches teams from each division along with the Team USA under 18 and under 17 squads.
The tournament is scheduled for January 18th-20th.
Representing the Outlaws on the Central Division roster will be forwards Brandon Brodhag (Brooklyn Park, MN), Alex Carlson (Farmington, MN) and Jack Paul (Minnetonka, MN) along with defensemen Jon Crouse (Alexandria, MN) and Ryan Peltoma (Brainerd, MN). Those five players will be joined by Outlaws head coach Jeff Crouse who will serve as this team's assistant under Bismarck Bobcats' head coach Byron Pool.
None of the five players participated in the event last season. Brodhag and Paul are 14th and 13th in the NAHL in scoring this season. Carlson began the year as the Outlaws' team captain and has three game winning goals to rank amongst the most in the league. Meanwhile, Crouse and Peltoma have given veteran leadership on the blue line.
The number of players representing each team, and the coaches making the trip, was based on the winning percentage standings following the games on December 21st. The Outlaws finished second in the Central Division in winning percentage with earned them the five players and one coach. Bismarck sends six, Alexandria five, Owatonna three and Albert Lea two.
The Outlaws return from their holiday break with home games this Wednesday, Friday and Saturday all at 7:30pm.
The North Iowa Outlaws Hockey Club is in its fourth season as members of the North American Hockey League. The NAHL is the nation's largest Junior A hockey league and is now in its 33nd year of operation. For more information, visit northiowaoutlaws.com or call (641) 424-5468.
