
Five Mohawks Selected on Day 2 of MLB Draft; More Expected Wednesday

Five former Amsterdam Mohawks were selected on Day Two of the Major League Baseball Draft Tuesday. Day Two consisted of rounds 2-30. The draft concludes Wednesday with rounds 31-50 and more former Mohawks players are expected to be selected.
Full bios will be released upon the completion of the draft.
Former mohawks Drafted so far in the 2011 Draft::
6th round Dan Gamache (2009 Auburn 3B) Pittsburgh Pirates
10th round Taylor Lewis (2010 Maine CF) Pittsburgh Pirates
15th round Braden Kapteyn (2009 Kentucky RHP/1B) Boston Red Sox
18th round Ben Alsup (2008 LSU RHP) Colorado Rockies
22nd round Matt Colantonio (2009/10 Brown C) San Diego Padres
The Mohawks open their 2011 season on Thursday June 9 against the Albany Dutchmen. They will have an opening weekend giant fireworks show after their second home game on Saturday June 11. This is the first of six fireworks shows the Mohawks have on tap for the season. Other shows will be June 24, July 1, July 3, July 15, and July 29.
