Odessa Jackalopes News Release

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - The Jackalopes last road win was way back on October 2nd against the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees. Since then, the Jacks are winless in their last 10 games away from the Ector County Coliseum coming into action on Friday night against the Corpus Christi IceRays. The IceRays had all 10 of their victories coming into action on Friday, from the friendly confines of the American Bank Center, including two against the Jackalopes on November 7th and 8th. On the other side of the spectrum, the Jacks have played a league-high 16 games away from home coming into play on Friday night.

The Jacks came into play Friday, being outscored 33-18 in the opening period. The IceRays got out to a fast start on their home ice. At 2:37 of the first period, the IceRays drew first blood on a shot from the point from defenseman Pierre Crinon. The screen-shot found its way past Robin Johansson to give the IceRays a 1-0 lead. At 3:46, Connor Bucsis (BUTCH-is) put the IceRays up 2-0, when he had a point-blank chance in front of the Jacks goal. Head Coach Greg Gatto pulled Robin Johansson and put in former IceRay Forbes Ploszaj. At 8:35, Tanner Lomsnes redirected a shot from Logan Gestro put the IceRays up 3-0. At 11:04 Nic LaBurn knocked down Christian Hausinger in front of the net, and fired a shot past Ploszaj's right pad to make it 4-0. The Jacks would finally answer at 12:56, when Razmuz Waxin-Engback scored his seventh goal of the season on an end-to-end rush. He fired the puck up over the shoulder of IceRays netminder Luke Pickar to put the Jackalopes on the board. The IceRays were quick to answer back. Frankie Melton scored his first career NAHL goal at 17:41 on a wrist shot from the right circle. Forbes Ploszaj was pulled and Robin Johansson was put back into the Jackalopes goal. The Jacks pulled back to within three on Alex Alger's seventh goal of the season at 18:28. After only 18 combined shots, the two teams combined for seven goals, but it was the IceRays who had a 5-2 after one period.

The goaltending shaped up for both teams in the second period. Both teams put 13 shots on the opponent's goal, but neither team could light the lamp in the second. The Jackalopes still were looking at a three-goal deficit going into the third.

The IceRays played a defensive-style throughout the third, making it difficult for the Jackalopes to get scoring opportunities in the third period. The 'Rays added to their lead at 6:18, when Tanner Lomsnes potted his second goal of the contest. Lomsnes took the puck from Kenny Hausinger in the Jacks zone, went wide, pulled Robin Johansson wide to the left, and wrap the puck inside the left post. The IceRays controlled the rest of the way to take a 6-2 decision over the Jackalopes.

The Jackalopes finished their two-game set against the 'Rays on Saturday night, November 22nd at 7:05. Voice of the Jacks, Joey Battaino has the call at 6:50 on Classic Rock 102.1 FM and FASTHockey.com.
