
Five Beat Stars to Represent U.S. and Canada Versus Norway

ATLANTA (July 5, 2002) - Atlanta Beat defender Kylie Bivens, forward Cindy Parlow and goalkeeper Briana Scurry were today named to the U.S. Women's National Team roster for the match versus Norway on July 21, 2002 in Blaine, MN. The Canadian National Team also named its roster for a July 17, 2002 meeting versus Norway in Etobicoke, ON, that includes Beat forward Charmaine Hooper and defender Sharolta Nonen.
This call-up marks the return of Briana Scurry, one of the greatest women goalkeepers in the world, to the U.S. Women's National Team. Scurry, who led the U.S. Women's National Team to the Olympic Gold medal in 1996 and World Cup Championship in 1999, has accumulated 103 career national team caps. Scurry last appeared with the National Team in August of 2000.
Bivens, who's earned a regular spot on the national team and has 7 career caps, last competed with the U.S. Women's National Team on April 27, 2002, in a match-up versus Finland. Parlow, a World Cup champion and Olympic gold and silver medallist, last appeared with the national team in March of 2002 in the Algarve Cup. Parlow has recorded 106 career national team caps and ranks in the top ten in three major scoring categories for the U.S., 6th in goals scored (46), 9th in assists (22) and 7th in points (114).
Hooper and Nonen last appeared with the Canadian National Team in April 2002 at the Tournoi Internationale de France. Hooper is Canada's all-time leader in appearances with 82 and goals scored with 48. Nonen has accumulated 29 all-time caps for the Canadian National Team.
