Five Academy Players Invited by National Team

MONTREAL ‚¬" Five players of the U21 Impact Academy were invited to take part in Canadian national team training camps.

Defender Francesco Augustin was invited to the U20 camp, which will be held in Sunrise, Florida, from February 5 to 12. The U20 national team will play two friendly matches against Trinidad and Tobago and D.C. United, a Major League Soccer club. These two games are part of the national team ‚¬â„¢s preparation for the upcoming CONCACAF U20 championships set for April.

Goalkeeper Maxime Crépeau, defenders Ismaïl Benomar and Marco Lapenna, as well as midfielder Shadrack Mmunga were invited to take part in the U17 national team training camp, also in Florida, from February 5 to 13.

CAMP STARTS MONDAY IN BROSSARD

Following a battery of medical and physical tests this week, the Impact first team is set to begin training camp on Monday, at the Bell Sports Complex, in Brossard. Fans can watch the practices, free of charge, from the stands.

Prior to the team ‚¬â„¢s departure for Arizona on February 20, where it will begin its second stage of preparation for the upcoming season, the team should play two exhibition games in Brossard. Details of those matches are yet to be determined.

The team ‚¬â„¢s 18th season, the Impact ‚¬â„¢s final year in second division, will begin on April 9 in Tampa Bay, and its home opener at Saputo Stadium is scheduled on Saturday, April 23.

For 2011 season tickets, a waiting list is available at montrealimpact.com or by contacting the box office at 514-328-3668. All season ticket holders will automatically have first right of refusal on their seats for Major League Soccer (MLS) in 2012.

THE ACADEMY PLAYS CONCORDIA

The Impact Academy is set to play its 4th pre-season game against university teams, facing the Concordia Stingers on Sunday at 3pm at Loyola.

In its first three games, the U21 Academy defeated the University of Quebec in Trois-Rivières 1-0, and tied both Montreal and McGill University 1-1.

CLUB PHOTOS AT THE MONTREAL-TRUDEAU AIRPORT

As part of the pictorial exhibition Montréal, Ville de Sports, by photographer André Paradis, photos of the Montreal Impact will be on display on illuminated columns at the airport near the commercial area at the departures level, as well as in the public hall of the international arrivals level. The exhibit will be on display until January 2012.

This exhibition highlights major sporting events held in Montreal in 2010. The exposition includes photos of the Montreal Canadiens, the Carabins de l ‚¬â„¢Université de Montréal, Montreal ‚¬â„¢s PGA Champions Tour, the Rogers Cup, the Cyclists Grand Prix of Quebec and Montreal and the Montreal Oasis Marathon.
