Fistric named Greyhound WHL Player of the Week

Calgary - The Greyhound WHL Player of the Week is defenceman Mark Fistric of the Vancouver Giants. Fistric earned player of the week honours by recording three goals and seven points in five road games during the week of December 27th to January 1st. Fistric had a plus-minus rating of +7 and was named one of the three stars in three of the five games he played. He also helped the Giants to a 4-1 record for the week.
On Tuesday, December 27th, Fistric recorded an assist in a 4-2 win against the Rebels in Red Deer. On Wednesday, December 28th, Fistric recorded two assists and was named third star in a 3-0 shutout road win against the Calgary Hitmen.
On Friday, December 30th, Fistric scored two goals and added an assist and was named second star in an 8-4 win against the Broncos in Swift Current. On Sunday, January 1st, Fistric scored a goal and was named second star in a 3-0 shutout road win over the Lethbridge Hurricanes.
Fistric, a 19-year-old native of Edmonton, Alberta, was drafted in the 1st round, 28th overall by the Dallas Stars in the 2004 NHL Draft.
Honourable mention goes to Devin Setoguchi of the Saskatoon Blades and Dustin Slade of the Vancouver Giants.
