(Bridgeport, Conn. - Sept. 16, 2012) - The Bridgeport Bluefish (32-31, 63-70) defeated the Sugar Land Skeeters (33-31, 62-72) by a score of 3-2 on Sunday at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard. Trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the eighth inning, the Bluefish plated three runs in the frame to take the lead for good on Sunday afternoon. Angel Flores then stepped to the plate and drew a walk to make the score 2-1. With the bases still loaded Joey Gathright recorded the biggest hit of the day when he pulled the ball past the second baseman into the outfield to score both Figueroa and Boyer to take a one-run lead.
Gathright, Jones, Figueroa and Eddie Rogers all collected two hits for the 'Fish on the day. Sugar Land outfielder Bubba Bell recorded two hits and plated the only two runs for the Skeeters.
Pat Bresnahan (1-0) picked up the win for Bridgeport in relief, throwing one and one-third innings.
