First Place Freedom Travel to Face Stampede on Friday Night

HARRISBURG, PA (Jun 4, 2014) -This Friday, the Stampede (3-5) will look to keep their playoff hopes alive, as they host the National Division leader Trenton Freedom (6-2). Coming off a bye week, the Herd looks to finish the season strong with three consecutive divisional contests in the friendly confines of PinnacleHealth Field at Giant Center.

The Stampede team has struggled to close out games all season, and last game versus Richmond was no exception. After taking a 21-20 lead into halftime, the Stampede offense struggled to score points in the 2nd half, and the defense could not stop the Raiders. The Stampede got outscored by the Raiders 35-12 in the final two quarters, and lost the game 55-33. The Herd surrendered 21 unanswered points to start the second half, as the Raiders won the game going away.

Trenton is also coming off a bye week, and defeated the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks in their last game. After beginning the season 2-2, the Freedom has reeled of four straight wins, and has taken hold of the #1 seed in the National Division. The Freedom defense was led by the front line of William Hollis, Marques Slocum, and Gerrard Bryant, tallying a combined five sacks and forced a fumble. Hollis tallied 2.5 sacks and forced one fumble.

Matchup to Watch :

Harrisburg Stampede Offensive Line has struggled at times throughout the season to keeping QB E.J. Nemeth upright. Facing a tough defensive line this week, the Stampede offensive line needs be stout in order to give the offense a chance to get into a rhythm.

Trenton Freedom Defensive Line has set the tone for the Freedom defense this season. The trio of Hollis, Slocum, and Bryant totaled 5 sacks last contest. On the season, Gerard Bryant leads the team with 7.5 sacks, 12.5 tackles for loss, and 4 forced fumbles.

This is the second of three matchups between the Stampede and Freedom this season. The Stampede look to keep their postseason hopes alive with a win in the division. After a rough start to the season, a strong finish can propel the Stampede into the playoff picture.
