First Charity Partnerships Announced

EVANSVILLE, IN: Wish Upon A Star, CJ's Bus Foundation, and the Boom Squad will be the first three charities featured with the Gus Doerner Sports Charity Football toss for the upcoming 2007 season. The wildly popular football toss takes place during halftime of all Evansville BlueCats home games. The money raised by the football toss is donated to the nightly charity partner. Last season, the Gus Doerner Sports Charity Football Toss raised over $3,200 which was donated to different charities.
Wish Upon A Star will be working with the BlueCats and the Gus Doerner Sports Charity Football Toss during the 2007 season opener on Saturday, March 24th. Wish Upon A Star is a non-profit organization that grants wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses.
The charity football toss during the second BlueCats home game on March 31st will benefit CJ's Bus Foundation. The CJ's Bus Foundation was launched in concurrence with the anniversary of the deadly Evansville tornado that claimed 25 lives in November 2005, making it one of the deadliest storms in Indiana history. CJ's Bus will travel to disaster sites nationwide and provide a safe and entertaining environment for children and their families in the immediate aftermath of disasters. The Boom Squad will be participating in the Gus Doerner Sports Charity Football Toss on April 21st. The Boom Squad is a youth drum line that performs at various events around Evansville. The Boom Squad offers a unique extra curricular activity for the young people involved. The group uses their appearances as an incentive for the students to do well academically, and requires that the students do well in school in order to participate. In addition to being involved with the football toss on April 21st, the Boom Squad will also be performing during halftime as the featured entertainment.
