In an intoxicating affair between the SYL U-14 Boys Long Island Rough Riders and the New York MetroStars the Rough Riders grabbed victory in overtime.
In a frenetic first half, the MetroStars displayed the greater levels of skill but the Rough Riders dug deep and grew in confidence as the half closed out. 0-0 Half Time. The MetroStars took a deserved lead nine minutes into the second half. The Rough Riders did not yield to the set back and equalized through Richie Heredia.
Both side pushed each other to the very end of regulation time. In overtime as the pressure intensified the Rough Riders visibly grew in confidence and stole a seemingly implausible victory from the MetroStars through Alex Castillo with 5 minutes left in 1st half overtime. Both sides must be commended for their incredible effort.
