Florida Firecats News Release
Estero, FL-The Firecats will host an open tryout this Saturday, November 19th at Estero High School beginning at 11am.
The Firecats currently have 12 players under contract for the 2006 season and are hoping to find some talented players on Saturday. "I want to have 30 guys heading to camp so we have a lot of slots to fill" said Coach Kevin Bouis "I've seen some good players the past few weeks and if someone stands out we'll sign 'em to a contract right there on the spot."
Coach Bouis has recently attended both the Tampa Bay Storm's and Orlando Predators open tryouts searching for talent. The team has extended invitations to some players who played their college ball at USF and UCF as well in trying to find even more homegrown players.
"We'll time the guys in the 40 and short shuttle then break them out for some individual drills," Bouis said of the workout. "Last year we signed former TE Marcus Waters, this year we are hoping to find even more quality guys."
The tryout will be held at Estero High School Field, 21900 River Ranch Rd. Estero, FL 33928 and is open to the public.
Notes: Registration begins at 10 AM and workouts start at 11 AM. A $75.00 (Cash only) registration fee is due the day of the tryout or pre-register by calling 239-390-2287. The tryout is open for all positions and will be conducted outdoors on natural grass. Players will be required to perform in a Pro-Style Combine workout. All participants are required to bring their own shoes (outdoor cleats preferably) and other proper workout attire. Pre registering is strongly recommended.
