Florida Firecats News Release
Estero, FL- The Florida Firecats rank the best among all arenafootball2 teams in offense and defense after knocking off the Bossier Shreveport Battle Wings 46-31 last Saturday.
The Florida Firecats put up 333 yards of total offense on Saturday, making them number one in that statistical category for the entire league. The number is thanks in large part to the 312-yard, seven touchdown performance of quarterback Ken Mastrole, and the 177-yard, five touchdown performance of receiver Cainon Lamb. Magic Benton and Anthony Snead were responsible for the other two Firecat touchdowns. Fullback Steve Gorrie led the rushing attack, averaging 5.4 yards a acrry. Kicker Brandon Kornblue added two extra points.
The Firecat defense allowed only 91 passing yards, which also ranks number one for the entire league. The secondary had seven pass breakups. The defense had three tackles for a loss, and Chris Morant had a 16-yard sack where he forced and recovered a fumble. The defensive front of Dunstan Anderson, Comone Fisher, Dante Booker, and Victor Hall caused major problems for Battle Wing quarterback Sherard Poteet all night long. Quincy Sorrell, Quesuan Wigfall, and Desmond Washington had solid performances in the Firecat backfield.
