Florida Firecats News Release

Estero, FL- The Florida Firecats announced today that Ken Mastrole is set to return as their Offensive Coordinator for the 2008 season. It will be his 3rd straight season as the offenses' architect.

"I'm excited to have the opportunity to come back," Mastrole said. "The last three years we've come up short of the ultimate goal and I am looking forward to getting back to work with the guys who are committed to bringing a championship back home."

Florida finished the 2007 season with the 5th ranked offense averaging 287.9 yards of offense per game. The Firecats also boasted the arenafootball2's most efficient passing attack leading the deuce with a 123.4 rating.

"Obviously having Kenny back puts us in a good position to be successful again next season," Firecats President and General Manager Chris Vallozzi said. "We are committed to winning our second arenacup championship, having him back is an important step in reaching that goal."

The Firecats have been among the af2's most successful franchises. Florida has a 74-38 regular season record since joining the league in 2000. The Firecats have made the playoffs each of the past six (6) seasons, the 2nd longest streak in the af2. Florida won the Arenacup in 2004, the American Conference Championship in 2002 and 2004 and the South Division Championship in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007.
