Estero, FL- The Florida Firecats inked Head Coach Kevin Bouis to a 2 year contract that will keep him at the helm through the 2008 season. During the last 2 seasons coach Bouis has guided the team to a 27-5 regular season record and 2 South Division crowns.
"Florida is where I want to be and I'm ready to get back to work," said Bouis. "We've worked hard to establish ourselves as one of the premier teams in the league and we've got to work even harder to stay at the top."
Coach Bouis has been with the team since 2002, his 1st 3 years as Defensive Coordinator before taking over as Head Coach in 2005. Defense has been the Firecats calling card every season under Kevin's leadership. From 2002-2006 the Firecats have only surrendered 40.4 points per game, among the leagues best. Last year the Firecats also featured the af2's top rated offense scoring 59 points per game, a 1st in team history.
"Kevin is a model of consistency." Said team President and GM Chris Vallozzi, "He's is one of the most talented coaches in the league and we're thrilled to be able to bring him back, we're looking forward to continuing our winning tradition."
The Firecats have made it to the postseason 5 straight years, winning the Arena Cup in 2004.
The Firecats will hold their first open tryout at Estero High School Saturday November 4th. Players will be asked to participate in a Pro-Style combine. Workout attire and cleats are recommended. The tryout will be held outdoors and will begin at 11am. Last season WR/LB Brittney Tellis was discovered at an open tryout. Tellis finished the year 2nd on the team in receptions with 89 for 895 yards and 31 touchdowns.
