Firebirds Sign Blues Prospect Nick Bogas

FLINT - The Flint Firebirds announced on Wednesday that the team has signed defenseman Nick Bogas to a Standard Player Agreement.
"I'm super excited to get going in Flint," Bogas said. "Flint has great fans, and I am excited to get to play in front of them."
Flint acquired Bogas from the Sarnia Sting on Aug. 21 in exchange for defenseman Landon Pickersgill and four draft selections. Bogas, a Royal Oak, Michigan native, was drafted 139th overall in the fifth round of the 2026 NHL Draft by the St. Louis Blues.
Last season, he played for the U.S. National Team Development Program, and in 37 games he recorded two goals, two assists and a +9 plus/minus rating. Before juniors, Bogas skated for the Oakland Jr. Grizzlies AAA program, and he is currently committed to play NCAA Hockey at Michigan State University. His father, Chris Bogas, was drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the sixth round of the 1996 NHL Draft. Chris finished his 11-year pro career with the Flint Generals in the 2009-2010 season.

"Nick adds another element to our d-core. He is physical and is rarely outworked in his own end. He has played major minutes at the international level and was relied heavily on by his coaching staff. His compete and composure will be assets to our back end."
Flint starts its regular season on Saturday, Sept. 19 in Saginaw against the Spirit. The Firebirds' home opener is on Saturday, Sept. 26 as they host the Niagara IceDogs. Puck drop at the Dort Financial Center is set for 7 p.m.
