Firebirds First Round Pick Cole Zurawski Commits to Flint

FLINT, Mich. - The Flint Firebirds announced on Monday that 2024 first round pick Cole Zurawski has committed to an Ontario Hockey League standard player agreement with the team.
"It's an amazing feeling," Zurawski said. "Ever since I got here everybody has been so welcoming; the players, coaches, GM, everybody. It's a great city and I can't wait to get started here and bring my physical game for the fans."
Zurawski was selected with the sixth overall pick at the 2024 OHL Priority Selection on April 12. He played the 2023-24 season with the Mississauga Rebels U16 AAA of the GTHL. The 6'0, 170 pound right wing appeared in 34 games for the Rebels and tallied 19 goals to go with 23 assists. A native of Etobicoke, Ontario, he scored two goals and had three assists in five games during the OHL Cup.
"We're extremely excited to have Cole join the Firebirds family," Firebirds General Manager Dave McParlan said. "From the moment he arrived in town for Orientation Camp we could tell this was going to be a good fit. Our fans are going to love watching him play and we can't wait to see what he does in his rookie season."
Zurawski spent the past weekend in Flint participating in the 2024 Orientation Camp along with the rest of the 2023 and 2024 Firebirds draft classes. He is the first player from the 2024 OHL Priority Selection to commit to the team he was drafted by.

We're really excited to get Cole. This is the first time in my scouting career that our scouting staff was unanimous across the board at number one. We all thought he was the best player in the draft and we were grateful that he was there at six.
Cole fits the Flint Firebirds mold. He's very aggressive on pucks and has a lethal shot. A pure goal scorer. We liken him to Coulson Pitre, he plays the same position and same type of game. He brings grit and skill every night and he competes with pace.
