Pensacola Ice Flyers News Release

The Ice Flyers had an early lead, but Fayetteville came back to win 7-2 on Tuesday night in Pensacola. For the first time this year the Ice Flyers lost a game they were leading after the first period. Goalie Chad Collins left the game with an injury at the first intermission, and the FireAntz rallied for five goals in the second and one more in the third period to win.

The game seemed to be Pensacola's when Jeff Zatorski tagged the scoreboard off assists by Rob Campbell and Anthony Monte 6:26 into the first period. Four minutes later Mike Tuomi doubled the score with the help of Chris Rebernik and Baylor Dieter. About 18 minutes into the first period, the momentum started to shift.

Goalie Chad Collins was in obvious pain after a play late in the second period. Playing through the end of the first, Collins allowed Fayetteville's Sean Cryer to slip the puck past him with 36 seconds until the horn. Craig Geerlinks and Bobby Reed assisted on the play.

Ryan Scott took over in goal for Pensacola, and Fayetteville used a very efficient attack to put up five goals on the fresh net minder in the second period. McConnachie scored twice, Geerlinks had a goal and two assists (giving him four points on the night), and Cryer and Reed each scored to make it 6-2 at the second intermission. The five goals scored on just ten shots for Fayetteville.

The rally carried into the third period as Robert Sich tossed the puck in the net after just 27 seconds. The 7-2 score would hold, and Fayetteville claimed victory. Pensacola outshot Fayetteville 46-26 in the losing effort.

Pensacola will travel to Huntsville on Friday to take on the Havoc. Saturday will be in Louisiana before returning home on December 18 against Mississippi. The December 18 game features the chance to win a Harley-Davidson motorcycle, and a food drive that gives all donators a chance to win an Ice Flyers Prize Pack. Tickets are available at the Civic Center Box Office, or online at ticketmaster.com. Groups of ten or more can receive special prices and order tickets through the Ice Flyers directly at (850) 466-3111, or emailing jeff@pensacolaiceflyers.com.
