Tupelo FireAnts News Release

The ‘Ants take on a familiar foe this week as the Beaumont Drillers visit the BancorpSouth Center this Saturday starting at 7:05pm. This is the second meeting between these two teams this season as the FireAnts dropped a 33-10 decision at Beaumont in the season opener for both teams. Tupelo's record is 0-4 on the season, 0-3 in the Atlantic South Division.

Tupelo comes into the game this Saturday after a bye week break. The ‘Ants lost their last game on April 12th against the Austin Rockers, 42-27. The player of the game for the FireAnts was Wide Receiver Darryl Carter, who hauled in four pass receptions for 53 yards and three touchdowns.

The Drillers head to Tupelo with a record of 4-1, including a 3-1 mark in the Atlantic South Division. Beaumont's season-opening four-game winning streak was snapped last Saturday night as the Drillers were defeated at home by the Lake Charles Land Sharks by a score of 61-20 at the Beaumont Civic Center.

Don't miss out as these two teams clash again, with the ‘Ants looking for their first win of the season. Saturday's game will be a battle of former Mississippi State Quarterbacks, as Matt Wyatt leads the ‘Ants and Derrick Taite commands the shotgun of the Drillers. Saturday's game kicks off at 7:05pm at the BancorpSouth Center in Tupelo. For more information, call the FireAnts at (662) 620-BITE.
