FireAnts Look Ahead to Saturday's Home Opener

After starting out the season with a loss against the defending NIFL Champs, the Mississippi Fire Dogs, 21-11, the FireAnts are now ready to rebound, starting with the home opener this Saturday night at the BancorpSouth Center.

This past weekend's game saw the debut of Tupelo High/Mississippi State QB Todd Jordan. Jordan, completed 10 out of 24 attempts for 71 yards and 1 touchdown. Tupelo's lone TD of the night came at the hands of Kevin Cooper, who totaled 16 receiving yards in the game.

Now, the 'Ants are getting ready for the Oklahoma Crude as they try to gain some momentum. The Crude is currently 1-1 on the season, losing their first game 63-3 against Sioux City and winning this past weekend versus Houma, 31-29.

Saturday's home opener kicks off at 7:00pm at the BancorpSouth Center.

FireAnts vs. Fire Dogs Notables

· In this first game of the 2002 season, FireAnts Kicker Jeff Walker sailed a 46-yard field goal through the uprights.

· DB Eric Perks gained one interception versus the Fire Dogs.

· RB Chris Rainey led the 'Ants in rushing, gaining 39 yards.
