FireAnts Conclude 2002 Season

The Tupelo FireAnts rounded out the 2002 National Indoor Football League season with a loss Saturday night against the Winston-Salem Energy, 38-35.

In a close game that was decided in the in the final minutes of play, the 'Ants were unable to muster out a win.

Scoring for Tupelo included RB Chris Rainey, WR Mario Gray, and WR Kevin Cooper with three touchdowns on the night.

'Ants QB's Damon Smith and Todd Jordan each threw for two touchdowns. Smith completed 6 of 12 passes for 117 yards while Jordan was 4 of 9 for 70 yards.

Playoff Picture

The first round of NIFL playoff action begins this weekend. In the Atlantic Conference, Tennessee takes on Lake Charles while Louisiana travels to Ohio Valley. In the Pacific, Omaha takes on Bismarck and Billings will play Lincoln.
