Louisville Fire News Release

Following in the footsteps of Tremain Mack and Jason Ferguson, Louisville Fire defensive specialist Jabir Walker has signed a contract to play with the Colorado Crush of the Arena Football League. Walker is now the third player to sign an AFL contract.

Walker joined the Fire late in the 2004 season after a two year stint in the Canadian Football League with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. In five games last season Walker recorded 26 tackles, five pass deflections, two forced fumbles and one interception.

Walker also played for the Fire in their first season in 2001 and his stats caught the attention of the CFL after that season. In 16 games in 2001 Walker led the Fire with 79 tackles, 42 pass deflections and seven interceptions.

"Jabir is a very good defensive player. After he was released by the Roughriders last year we got him in as soon as we could," commented Fire Head Coach Tommy Johnson. "He is going to be a tough one to replace and I wish him the best.

The Fire will hold an open try-out this Saturday at Old Cardinal Stadium starting at 9:30 A.M. and registration will begin at 8:00 A.M. The cost of the try-out will be $40 and the try-out will be for wide receivers, defensive backs, running backs and quarterbacks.

Fire 2005 season tickets are also on sale starting at only $49. For more information on 2005 season tickets call (502) 368-0009.
