Manchester Wolves News Release
The Louisville Fire (7-5) rode an incredible six-touchdown performance from Schutt Offensive Player of the Game OS Rob Mager to a 59-49 win over the Manchester Wolves (5-7) Friday night before 7,244 fans on Brady Sullivan Field at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, N.H.
After being held in check during the first quarter, Mager tallied two touchdowns in the second, third and fourth, to finish with 11 catches for 148 yards and the six scores. The red-hot Fire quarterback Brett Dietz completed 29 of his 43 pass attempts for 284 yards and six touchdowns in the air, while running in one score himself.
As good as Louisville's offense was, it was their defense that stole the show as they stepped up time after time daring the Wolves to score by kicking a total of five on-side kicks during the game. The Fire defense finished with two interceptions on the night, one for a touchdown after ADT Defensive Player of the Game Kabote Sikyala returned a deflected pass off of the hands of Wolves' receiver Wendell Williams for a 13-yard score.
WR/DB Lance Taylor earned the U.S. Army Ironman of the Game and Cutters Catch of the Game awards thanks to his five catches for 36 yards on offense and one interception on defense.
Wolves' quarter D. Bryant finished with 162 yards for five touchdowns in the air, with one running score. Manchester was led by Wendell Williams' eight catches for 47 yards and two scores, while Steve Gonzalez tallied five catches for 61 yards and two touchdowns.
Manchester's next game will be July 7th when they hit the road to take on division rival Green Bay Blizzard, in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
