FOXBOROUGH, MA - The Chicago Fire (10-7-12, 42 points) battled the New England Revolution (10-10-9, 39 points) to a 0-0 tie tonight on the road at Gillette Stadium. With the tie, the Fire remain in second place in the Eastern Conference, seven points behind conference leading Columbus Crew and three points ahead of third place Toronto FC. While the Fire sit in second place in the East, the team will have to wait until next week for their next opportunity to clinch a 2009 MLS Cup playoff position. The Fire return to MLS action next week as the team faces Chivas USA in their 2009 regular season finale at home at TOYOTA PARK (7 p.m. CT, ESPN2/Deportes).

With just one game remaining, the Fire can clinch a 2009 MLS Cup playoff position and lock up a second place seed in the East next Thursday with a win or tie against Chivas USA. If the Fire fall to Chivas USA on Thursday, the team will have to wait for the weekend results to secure a playoff berth.

Fire goalkeeper Jon Busch recorded seven saves tonight to post his ninth shutout of the season.
