Fire And Club America To Host First Ever Clinicas Aguilas Fire On August 29th And 30th

CHICAGO, IL (August 20, 2009) - The Chicago Fire of Major League Soccer and Club America of the Mexican Primera Division have teamed up to launch four soccer clinics, the "Clinicas Aguilas Fire", on August 29th and 30th in Chicago. Chicago Fire Player Development coaches and Club America Player Development coaches and scouts will run the clinics that will look to not only develop soccer skills, but also identify players that display potential for a future in professional soccer. The clinics will feature instruction by Club America development coaches Vinicio Bravo and Jose Enrique Vaca, both former Club America players.

The "Clinicas Aguilas Fire" is part of an on-going partnership between the Chicago Fire and Club America that was announced on January 15, 2009 in Mexico City by Chicago Fire president, Dave Greeley, and Club America president, Michel Bauer. This partnership includes international friendly games between the two teams, the first of which took place at TOYOTA PARK on April 29th with the second one scheduled for Mexico City at Azteca Stadium (date is TBD). The two teams are also pursuing additional marketing and corporate sponsorship opportunities as part of the partnership.

Players ages 8-16 can register for one of the four clinics located around the Chicagoland area. Each participant will receive a ball, t-shirt, and a free ticket to the Chicago Fire versus Columbus Crew match on Sunday, September 20th (2 p.m., TOYOTA PARK).

The four "Clinicas Aguilas Fire" will be held in Marquette Park (Chicago), Clyde Park District (Cicero), Elgin Sports Complex (Elgin), and Riis Park (Chicago).

The "Clinicas Aguilas Fire" registration and waiver forms can be downloaded by visiting www.chicago-fire.com/cafireclinic and should be returned via fax (708-496-6050) or mail (Clinicas Aguilas Fire, Marketing Department, 7000 S. Harlem Ave., Bridgeview, IL 60455) to the Chicago Fire. The cost is $45 per participant payable with credit card. Participants may register on the day of the clinic however space is limited to just 200 participants per clinic. Cash only will be accepted on the day of the clinic.
