Filer earns weekly AFLWA award

TAMPA BAY - ArenaFan.com has announced Tampa Bay Storm fullback/linebacker Rodney Filer has been named Ironman of the Week for Week 3. This is the first time Filer has won the Arenafan.com weekly award.
Filer (6-foot-3, 260, Iowa) is a nine-year Arena Football League veteran and is in his first season with the Storm. He rushed for four touchdowns and made two tackles, including one during a goal-line stand in a 47-61 loss to the Georgia Force this past Saturday. Filer has seven rushing touchdowns in the past two games and is second in the AFL with eight rushing touchdowns and third in the AFL with 74 yards rushing.
"We are proud of Rodney," said Head Coach and General Manager Tim Marcum. "He adds a new dimension to our offense, we look for him to continue running hard and getting us those tough yards."
Storm wide receiver Lawrence Samuels surpassed 800 career receptions in the Week 3 match-up against the Force. He needs four receptions against the Dragons to surpass Darryl Hammond and move into fifth place all-time in the AFL.
Other ArenaFan.com weekly winners included: Chicago Rush wide receiver Bobby Sippio (Offensive Player) and Dallas Desperado defensive back Jermaine Jones (Defensive Player).

The 2007 Storm season, presented by Champs Sports, Where Sports Lives, returns to the St. Pete Times Forum on Friday, March 23 at 7:30 p.m. as the Tampa Bay Storm take on the National Conference Rival New York Dragons.
